About Tropical Patios
Tropical Patios, Inc. is a construction company providing brick paving and landscaping to the owners of area residences, businesses, and public buildings. As a family-owned and operated company in Harlingen, Texas, Tropical Patios, Inc. meets and exceeds customer’s brick paving and hardscape requirements in South Texas.
We creatively design and execute your projects. Jonathan Kidd graduated from the Honors Program at the University of Texas in 1975. His Liberal Arts education has given him the knowledge to solve problems. Our ICPI certified field supervisors oversee our well-trained skilled craftsmen, many of which have been with the company for fifteen years or more.
Jonathan Kidd, a lifetime resident of Harlingen, began doing brick paving with one crew in 1982. The first jobs were small residential patios and sidewalks. The business has grown over the years to include both residential and commercial jobs. We began brick paving at a time when most people were not familiar with the product. The demand grew by word of mouth. Now, brick paving is a recognized profession with its own association (www.icpi.com) of which Mr. Kidd is a member.
Tropical Patios has an excellent reputation in South Texas and a track record of meeting and exceeding customer’s expectations. Tropical Patios also enjoys a good reputation with area general contractors because the work is done correctly and on time. We are members of the Brownsville and Harlingen Chambers of Commerce as well as Associate Members of the Association of General Contractors.

Brick paving is an environmentally friendly alternative to concrete and asphalt. It allows water absorption and oxygen exchange with the subsurface. Also, it can be removed and reused alleviating pressure on landfills. Good brick paving is beautiful. It creates an atmosphere of hospitality and warmth.
